Revised Autumn 2016 Timetable for Steam Railway

posted 20 Sep 2016, 04:06 by IOM SRSA   [ updated 20 Sep 2016, 04:07 ]

The Isle of Man Steam Railway will operate a revised timetable with immediate effect for the remainder of the 2016 season.

Isle of Man Railways has experienced a high level of operational issues on the Steam Railway during the 2016 season. Currently only one locomotive, no. 8 Fenella, is operational and the revised timetable is being implemented from Thursday 22 September until 6 November 2016 to reflect this.

On most days, the steam train will operate timetable V, with the train departing Douglas at 0950 for Port Erin and returning from Port Erin at 1130. The train will then operate from Douglas to Castletown departing Douglas at 1350, returning from Castletown at 1427. The final daily departure on timetable V is 1550 out of Douglas to Castletown, returning at 1627.

Passengers are advised to check the revised timetable before planning their journey as departure times will vary on a number of days.

All Dining Car services will be operated as advertised including the Commuter Club, Pie and Mash train and themed nights.

The revised timetable can be found on www.rail.im.

Director of Transport Services Ian Longworth said:

‘Isle of Man Railways appreciates that many passengers will be disappointed with the reduced level of steam services and we apologise for any inconvenience. We operate Victorian locomotives and we have experienced a high level of failures that require substantial repairs.’
