Great Coastal Railway Journeys : 22nd May
The railway will feature on television this evening in the opening episode of a new series of Great Coastal Railway Journeys; the programme, fronted by Michael Portillo, will showcase the railway and was filmed in September of 2021 across the island; No.13 Kissack will feature with some impressive drone footage along the route as well as scenes boarding the train at Douglas Station and a train heading south through Ballabeg Station.
The programme aired at 6.30pm on BBC2 on Monday 22nd May and is also available on the iPlayer; during his visit Mr. Portillo travelled the length of the line stopping off at Castletown Station to visit Castle Rushen and Port St. Mary Station for the harbour before continuing the short journey to Port Erin Station concluding his trip. The programme has provided some excellent publicity for the railway and the island in this 150th anniversary year.
