Following a cleaning party last weekend, volunteers from the Supporters’ Association were on hand again in the railway museum at Port Erin Station this afternoon prior to the start of the 2023 season when another small project for the 150th anniversary celebrations reached fruition; recreating the opening day scene at Douglas Station on 1st July 1873, the Association has provided and fitted a replica Douglas & Peel United banner to the front of the locomotive to mark the anniversary.  The museum will be open from 9.30am tomorrow morning, Friday 10th March which is the first day of the season.

Owned and restored by a members of the Supporters’ Association, six-wheeled Cleminson carriage M.N.Ry. No.6 is also displayed in the museum for the first time this year, joining No.6 Peveril, repainted by the Association last year, and closed vans Gr.12 and G.19 with drop-side wagon F.75 and the Governors’ Saloon F.75 completing the rolling stock exhibits to start the season.  No.4 Loch arrived light engine in Port Erin earlier today and will take the 10.00am service train tomorrow with trains running across the weekend, the first train being the 9.50am ex-Douglas in the morning.
