No.9 Douglas Photo Update : 22nd May
A few photographs to illustrate progress being made on the cosmetic restoration of No.9 Douglas by Association volunteers in the running shed at Douglas Station. Steady progress continues to be made on the locomotive as the railway approaches the busy T.T. period, as well as their ongoing works in the goods shed at Port St. Mary Station where No.5 Mona is also taking shape. It is expected that No.5 will be completed in readiness to take part in the 150th anniversary celebrations later in the year where a whole host of events will take place during an extended festival, as well as anniversary day itself on Saturday 1st July.
The railway continues to be busy with M.N.Ry. No.4 Caledonia on dining train duty today with a lunch train for visitors from the cruise ship M.V. Corinthian in addition to No.4 Loch and No.11 Maitland maintaining services on the standard “R” timetable. Tomorrow, Tuesday 23r May the railway is closed, the final day before daily services until the end of September commence. This weekend will also see the start of the intensive “S” timetable which runs throughout practice week, followed by the “R” plus “C” (commuter train) services which run for four days in T.T. week before reverting to the “R” schedule that weekend.
