Pre-Service Testing : 10th March ’23
The first trains of the season this morning, Friday 10th March, were cancelled owing to heavy snowfall across the island overnight and two light engines ran to Castletown Station and return to check the line ahead of the services which will now commence with the 1.50pm ex-Douglas and 2.00pm ex-Port Erin. No.4 Loch worked from the south and No.11 Maitland from the north to ensure the line was clear before the decision was made to run the afternoon services.
The railway will continue operating, weather permitting, across the weekend when timetable “R” will be in place; the railway museum at Port Erin will be open with new exhibit, restored six-wheel carriage M.N.Ry. No.6 on display as well as No.1 Sutherland now proudly wearing its replica Douglas & Peel United banner supplied and installed by the Association to mark the start of this momentous one hundred and fiftieth year of the railway which is being marked later in the year by a whole host of events.
