Last Day Of The Season : 3rd November 2024
The 2024 season drew to a close on Sunday 3rd November with the usual “R” timetable in operation and both No.11 Maitland and No.13 Kissack in traffic; loadings for the final week were very good and the last departure from Douglas Station, the 3.50pm train, carried a headboard made by Association member Dave Archer as a fitting tribute to the late Mike Buttell who passed away last month. Following the last trains, the following morning saw No.13 Kissack return to the workshops light engine.
The next services to operate on the railway will take place on 6th December when the Steam Into Christmas dining trains begin, offering a range of festive treats through into the new year; the Polar ExpressTM trains will also return next month. Association members will shortly be receiving the latest edition of our official journal Manx Steam Railway News in the post, containing the usual mix of the latest news, archive material, photographs and other railway content. The 2025 season will start up on 20th March.
