Purchased as being surplus to requirements from Bord Na Móna (the Irish Peat company) by contractors R.M.S. Locotec in 2008 and seeing limited use during winter relays, also used on the electric railway.  It left the island during November 2010, for further storage at Wolsingham Station on the Weardale Railway.
