Four-Wheel Carriage B.17

Built by the Metropolitan Carriage & Wagon Co.,Ltd., of Saltley Works in Birmingham for the 1873 opening of the Peel Line, from 1881 this carriage was close-coupled to B.4 and in 1923 the two were mounted on a new bogie underframe to become “pair” F.69; the bodies were scrapped in 1969 at Castletown Station and the underframes from the original four-wheeler used to construct K.24; the underframes became R.9.
