Brake Composite F.7
One of two similar bogie carriages, the other being F.8, purchased in 1876 from the Ashbury Carriage & Wagon Co., Ltd., and lost in the St. John’s Station shed fire on 10th December 1975. The accompanying photograph of the carriage at Douglas Station appears to not have the familiar painted on solebars which were applied when the stock became red and cream in an effort to make them match up with the later stock on which the steel underframes were exposed.

A fine study at Douglas Station in August 1951 with full class designations on the doors, later only first class and guards’ were so labelled.
Lettering detail showing the class designations on the doors and larger “G” of guard which was commonplace.
Sister carriage F.8 at Port Erin Station in August of 1938 in the purple lake and off-white livery.
