The only intermediate stopping place on the Foxdale Line and furnished with a modest waiting shelter, the station was never manned and served the rural community of Lower Foxdale; it was situated approximately half-way between the two terminus stations. It had been the original intention for it to be named either Hamilton Waterfall or Lower Foxdale but these never came to fruition. Sporadically trains still travelled past here until 1961 but these were not for passengers and the station was not used.
