B.A.T. 1

Constructed in-house by the workshop staff at Douglas Station on one of the four-wheel runners delivered with No.18 Ailsa, this cradle was made to carry a locomotive boiler and given the name/number “B.A.T.1” meaning Bogie Accommodation Truck.  It was created in 2008 and saw periodic use but has since been dismantled, the smokebox cradle currently being stored to the rear of the workshops complex beside the carriage shed.
