Warley National Model Railway Exhibition 2017

Volunteer members of the Association again set up stall at the 2017 Warley National Model Railway Exhibition, held over the weekend of 25th and 26th November at the N.E.C. Birmingham, to further promote the Isle of Man Railway and other Island heritage railway attractions.

The centrepiece attraction on our stand this year was a 5" gauge live steam model of Locomotive No.1  Sutherland,  its first outing at a public show, helping to attract much passing attention and interest. Our stand offered visitors a range of literature and sales items, including DVDs and booklets, with six Association members on hand over the two days to answer questions, garner wider interest in the Isle of Man Steam Railway and highlight our planned major new project, the restoration of Goods Van G.1.   Warley National 2017 was again well attended by standard and narrow gauge heritage railway operators or their support groups and preservation societies. Full-size locomotives on display inside the exhibition hall included ex-G.W.R. Collett 14xx class 0-4-2T No.1450 (from the Severn Valley Railway), S.E. & C.R. Wainwright 'H' class 4-4-0T No.363 (from the Bluebell Railway) and ex-Coral Coast Railway Hudswell-Clarke 0-6-0 N.G. Tender No.11 Fiji (from the Statfold Barn / Welsh Highland Railway).  Always plenty to interest the railway enthusiast, full-size standard and narrow gauge, and railway modellers of all scales.
