No.5 Mona  Works Update : 15th April

Progress is being made by Association volunteers on the continuing cosmetic restoration of No.5 Mona ahead of the 150th anniversary celebrations later in the year; based in the goods shed at Port St. Mary Station, recent works have included the fitting of a lid to the coal bunker in the cab and continued reassembly ahead of the final painting and lining out.  Work has been ongoing since January of last year and is now nearing its conclusion.

Work has also been undertaken on the vacuum backs both front and back as well as more painting before the professional contractor commences work next month applying filler, topcoat and lining out which will be in the spring greeen livery with black and white lining out.  Work painting the driving wheels will continue as the weather allows, this being more practical to carry out when the locomotive is outside the shed.
