Closed Van G.5

Second of the first batch of four such closed vans, this example was last used for this purpose in 1965, after with G.19 was similarly treated and G.5 withdrawn; it survived until the mass scrapping of 1974 when it was taken to Ballasalla Station and disposed of.  Of note, it was fitted with portholes in the sides with hinged doors.

G.5 was one of two vans delivered from the Ashbury Carriage & Wagon Co., Ltd., and was through-piped for use between the diesel railcars upon their arrival on the railway in 1961.
