A short spur was laid in 1968 directly from the north line just outside Ramsey Station to service the experiemental oil trains which were operated using three coverted wagons, M.X, M.X and M.X; the experiment was short lived and the lines lifted.  The curvature of the track was such that a runner or bogie carriage had to be placed between the locomotive and wagons to gain access, avoiding the wheelbase of the steam locomotive derailing on the tight curve.
