Proposed Restoration Of F.36

One of several mooted projects in recent times has been the proposed restoration of Royal Saloon F.36, resident in the railway museum for many years; this vehicle is the last remaining 1905 saloon in original condition and was used in 1963 to convey the Queen Mother, and again in 1972 when the Royal Family again travelled in it between Castletown and Douglas.  Details appeared in Manx Steam Railway News detailing proposed works, initially to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Late Queen Elizabeth’s visit though for a number of reasons this was not achieveable.  Still very much on the table is an overhaul and repaint of this historic carriage. The view here show it after the repaint for the 1972 Royal Train and the first class interior as it is today, below.
