Brake Van E.5

One of a third batch of two dating from 1876 from the Metropolitan Carriage & Wagon Co., of Saltley Works in Birmingham, the other being E.6; after the decline and withdrawal of the four-wheel brake vans upon delivery of the first bogie stock this withdrawn vane was used latterly as a mobile store a Douglas Station at the end of Road Five for many years after withdrawal; it was removed from this location prior to a visit by the Queen Mother in 1963 as part of a tidy-up of the station area, surviving until the mass clearances of 1974 when it was moved to Ballasalla  Station along with many other items of redundant stock and scrapped.
