Fundraising & Donations

We rely on public donations, membership subscriptions, gift sales and our members’ voluntary work to carry on all of our charity work:- helping to promote and conserve Manx steam railway heritage.  Fundraising appeals and grant applications are made to assist with larger qualifying projects.  Donations of any amount are most gratefully received to help us continue our work.

Heritage conservation and interpretation projects that the Supporters’ Association has undertaken directly or supported financially over the past three decades are listed on our Projects Page and these include most recently the complete restoration of original 1873 goods van G.1 in time for the 150th  anniversary celebrations in 2023 as well as the cosmetic restoration of No.5 Mona for the same event.

Work is also ongoing on similar cosmetic work to No.9 Douglas as well as a number of peripheral projects focusing around the wayside stations at The Level, Ballabeg and Port St. Mary among others, as well as the provision of platform furniture and improved signage in the museum.  All of these projects are funded from within the Association's coffers so fundraising is vital.

Please note:  If you donate towards a specific project or charitable purpose which, despite our reasonable endeavours or for reasons beyond our control, we are not then able to undertake or complete, our charity Trustees may apply your donation (or the remaining part of it) to our other on-going charity work - helping to promote and conserve Manx steam railway heritage.
