The full timetable for the 2026 season has been released by Isle of Man Railways and train services will commence on Thursday 19th March when the standard “R” timetable will resume with the familiar pattern of four trains in each direction, operating on certain dates for the first few weeks as detailed below. Until 20th May trains will not operate on a daily basis as has been common in recent years, with a daily service in place over the Easter Period and the return of the more intensive “S” timetable on key days and the evening train on the “U” timetable running on four dates during the peak season of July and August seen in yellow. Trains will not operate on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in October, the final day 1st November.
The Manx Heritage Transport Festival will take place Tuesday 28th July - Sunday 2nd August at which it is planned to mark the sixtieth anniversary of the Supporters’ Association in a number of ways, these will be announced on this website in due course, as will full details of the festival and our annual general meeting, also taking place festival week,
The timetable now includes icons to illustrate on which date the popular Dining Train will be in operation, the first of which is on 2nd April and operate regularly through until 31st October offering a wide variety of dining options which are now open for booking. As ever, we look forward to a busy year in this, our anniversary year. More details of how this will be marked will be available soon.

Work is now in progress on the upcoming edition of our official journal Manx Steam Railway News which will include coverage of the special anniversary train, all the latest news from the railway as well as the usual mix of articles and photographs both past and present. The previous edition which was released last month is also available and is delivered free of charge to members quarterly; produced entirely on a voluntary basis, the journal is a full colour A5 publication.

Our journal has been going strong since 1966 and will itself reach its 200th edition later in the year. We also have a range of back issues for sale via this website and are always ready to accept contributions for inclusion within its pages. The next edition is hoped to be issued in February 2026 with the spring edition following in May.
