Three-Plank Wagons H.21 - H.26
Three-Plank Wagons H.21 - H.26
Six identical wagons delivered from the Ashbury Carriage & Wagon Co., Ltd., in 1877, the second batch following the originals which were supplied from the Metropolitan Carriage & Wagon Co., Ltd., of Saltley Works in Birmingham to a similar design. Two bogie carriages were also suppled from this manufacturer, F.7 and F.8 dating from 1881.
These batch of three-plank wagons were notable for having coil springs as opposed to the more commonly used leaf springs to distinguish them from others of the series; the first to be lost was H.21 which met its fate as early as 1948 with the final example being H.24 which survived until 1960 which is when it was officially struck from the rolling stock records.
