Brake Van E.6

Part of a third batch of two from the Metropolitan Carriage & Wagon Co., Ltd., of Saltley Works in Birmingham, the body was removed from its underframe (which was scrapped) in 1911 and reused as grounded store at Peel Road Station, the frames were destroyed in 1915.  The van body survived on the site for many years and was destroyed on the site at the same time as the entire site was cleared by controlled fire in 1975.  The accompanying image is very much a what if... depicting the van in the early nationalisation livery of all-over maroon.
