Timetable Archive
1990 - 1999
This era saw advances in the leaflet format and included the timings for the electric and mountain railways merged into one timetable, from 1991 the “brass plaque” logo became standard branding across the remainder of the decade; the era encompasses the Year Of Railways in 1993 and the subsequent anniversary seasons, culminating in Steam 125 marking the one hundred and twenty fifth anniversary of the Peel Line in 1998.
Throughout the period Robert Smith was in charge as Director of Public Transport, well remembered for the pioneering event periods for which the decade is most fondly remembered. Across the years the annual timetable remained much the same as had been established the previous decade with Ballasalla Station used as primary passing place, dinnertime trains passing at Castletown Station and Port Soderick Station used for peak season.

In addition to the main leaflet an insert was also included with services operating over the Easter Week including a bus connection, the panel on the right being the insert which was included loose leaf.

Largely similar to previous seasons, the calendar format was again dropped in favour of listing the operating dates at the top of each page as seen here; there were events periods in addition to this which were promoted via separately produced promotional material, though these were notably scaled down from what had been seen earlier in the decade. The tri-fold leaflet included images of the Manx Electric Railway on its secondary cover. Note also that No.4 Loch is prominently featured on the cover despite having been withdrawn from traffic at the end of 1995, later being the subject of our Un-Loch Your Cash appeal in 1998.
1998
Note the introduction of a third colour coding, with simply indicated that the 4.10pm ex-Douglas Station operated at the weekends during July and August, the previous incarnation having become standard across the previous seasons. Being the final year of the big anniversaries, a number of additional services were operated and included within separately issued Steam 125 marketing materials. These included No.1 Sutherland operating on the Manx Electric Railway.
1999
This was the first year that a calendar was included, in previous years operating dates were stated within the timetable, in this particular format it would become the standard layout for some years.
