En route back home to the Groudle Glen Railway, locomotive Annie paid a visit to Douglas Station this morning hauled by traction engine Talisman. The locomotive will be touring the island before returning down the glen including stops at Derby Castle, King Edward Road, the former Groudle Glen Hotel, Liverpool Arms, Ham & Egg Terrace, The Salmo Centre in Laxey prior to making its way back to home metals. It will join resident steam locomotives Sea Lion, Brown Bear and Otter as well as the rest of the diesel and battery electric fleet.
The railway, which was resurrected by the Supporters’ Association from 1982, is open each Sunday and Wednesday evening in the summer months, and stages a wide variety of event days, including the popular Steam Teas, Two Train Summer Sundays and will be taking part in the Manx Heritage Transport Festival at the end of next month. Their Clifftop Concerts will also take place on 9sth August when the spectacular coastal terminus at Sea Lion Rocks will host a day of free live music from Manx musicians in stunning coastal surroundings. The annual gala day will also take place on 13th September and the final trains of the season on 18th October
