End Of The Season : 1st November
End Of The Season : 1st November
The 2026 season drew to a closed on Sunday 1st November with the railway operating to the “R” timetable and No.13 Kissack working from Douglas Station and M.N.R. No.4 Caledonia k based south and trains well patronised and Manx Northern stock featuring in service. Once again the railway has enjoyed a busy year with the dining trains operating in addition to timetabled services, and a number of events across the year with the main one being the Manx Heritage Transport Festival at the end of July. The year began with our own special train on New Years’ Day marking the diamond jubilee of the Supporters’ Association in style. As has become customary, services commenced in the middle of March with trains running on certain days of the week.
This season has seen four locomotives in regular operation with services maintained by No.4 Loch, No.11 Maitland, No.13 Kissack with M.N.R. No.4 Caledonia largely used on dining trains and driver experiences. On the rolling stock front M.N.Ry. No.16 (latterly F.37) returned to operation following comprehensive restoration and in the original Manx Northern Railway livery of purple lake and off-white, while work has continued on both F.10 and F.46, both of which are due to return to service during the 2027 season. The museum has, for the first time, hosted no less than four locomotives: No.1 Sutherland, No.5 Mona, No.6 Peveril and No.9 Douglas, all of which have been cosmetically restored by the Supporters’ Association in recent years.
Next Season Commences : Thursday 18th March 2027
