Work carried out in the summer of 2020 after the easing of lockdown restrictions focused on the former gatekeepers' lodge at Ballasalla Station which had become overgrown with ivy and although structurally sound, as a listed building it had a poor appearance.  All ivy and weeds were stripped from the walls, guttering and downspouts repaired and some clearing out inside the tower which had become overgrown.  Current plans are to repaint the doors and window frames in the future, in the maroon scheme of the station itself.
