Four-Wheel Carriage C.1
First of the series and delivered for the opening of the Peel Line in 1873 from the Metropolitan Carriage & Wagon Co., Ltd., of Saltley Works in Birmingham, this carriage was close coupled with B.19 from 1881 and placed on a new underframe from the same supplier to become “pair” F.64 in 1912. The underframe from this survives as a bogier runner today. The other portion has long since been scrapped but C.1 remains on the Peel Station site, fully repainted for its 150th anniversary in 2023. As with others of the series the guards compartment has a narrower doorway.
