Closed Van G.3

Third of the first batch of four such closed vans delivered for the opening of the Peel Line in 1873 from the Metropolitan Carriage & Wagon Co., of Saltley Works in Birmingham, this example was withdrawn from traffic as surplus to requirements in a poor state of repair in 1965 and scrapped in 1974 at Ballasalla Station.  It remained largely in original condition as was not fitted with portholes as with other members of the series.  Very few images of this example survive, those below are of the surviving G.1 restored by the Association.
