Closed Van G.9
Fourth and final of the batch of four such closed vans supplied by the Metropolitan Carriage & Wagon Co., of Saltley Works in Birmingham, this example was withdrawn in 1962 and scrapped at Ballasalla Station in 1974; the illustration below and accompanying archive photograph show the van in a darker shade of grey. Note the van was fitted with portholes to aid ventilation as illustrated in the image below.
