Repainting No.6 Peveril

Following the cosmetic restoration in 1994 by Association volunteers, No.6 Peveril had spent many years displayed in the museum at Port Erin Station; it was removed in 202o to be decontaminated of asbestos which meant partial dismantling, so the opportunity was taken to revisit the locomotive and carry out a further repaint; this work was carried out by Sneaky Weasel and funded by the Association in time for the 150th anniversary celebrations, the decision being taken to retain the post-war red colour scheme and have the locomotive appear in winter form with replica snow plough, canvas cab dodgers and full lining.  The opportunity was also taken to apply the rear cab sheet numeral accurately, based on tracings taken from the original 1950s work taken at the time of the 1994 restoration work.  At the present time is planned for our volunteers to complete the job by repainting the driving wheels while the locomotive is out of the museum.
