Update On No.9 Douglas : 31st March

Volunteers from the Association have been progressing their cosmetic restoration of No.9 Douglas in the running shed at Douglas Station in the last few weeks; attention is presently concentrated on painting the inside of the main frames in order to allow the boiler to be placed back in the frames and cabs put back on, with red undercoat now in the process of being applied.  This work is being done concurrently with No.5 Mona in the goods shed at Port St. Mary Station where cab fittings are now been reunited.

Work is also progressing on new interpretive signage for the larger exhibits in the railway museum at Port Erin Station and it is hoped to install some of these in the coming days; in the meantime the railway is operating to the standard "R" timetable (with the exception of 4th and 5th April when no trains will run.  The first Pie & Mash train of the season will depart Douglas Station at 7.00pm on Thursday 6th April bound for the southern terminus.
