No.9 Douglas Ongoing Works  : 2nd May

Work by Association volunteers is progressing on No.9 Douglas in the running shed at Douglas Station as attention has turned to the cylinder covers which have been removed, straightened, cleaned down and undercoated; the inside frames continue to be painted and steady progress is being made.  There is still plenty of work to be carried out before the boiler is reunited with the frames, if you can help please contact us for information.

The railway is closed for the next three Tuesdays, with trains running to the standard “R”  timetable on all other days; celebrations will take place on Saturday 1st July, the 150th  anniversary day itself, followed by an extended Summer Transport Festival at the end of that month.  The islands Lieutenant Governor Sir John Lorimer and Lady Lorimer will be visiting the railway museum at Port Erin Station today, new interpretive displays having recently been installed by the Assocation in readiness for this event.
