The Manxman & Co., Photography : 15th May

No.4 Loch was The Manxman for the day on Monday 15th May with trains operating to the usual “R” timetable and No.11 Maitland also in traffic.  The title was carried at the request of visiting German enthusiast and Association stalwart Luca Kehnscherper who is on island for a week enjoying all the rail transport on offer.  This morning there was a visit to the running shed and running shed at Douglas Station prior to a day of lineside photography and the Association have been delighted to assist Mr. Kehnscherper with the requests.  He is employed by D.B. Netz in Germany and has a particular interest in the narrow gauge and specifically the Isle of Man.  Railway workers have been delighted to host him on his latest visit to the island.

 

The railway is closed today, Tuesday 16th May and timetable “R”, then operate for the rest of the week; additionally The Italian Job dining train will operate on Friday evening, followed by the Tapas Of Seville on Saturday and the popular Sunday Lunch train on 21st which will again be The Manxman.  The following week sees the Pie & Mash train on Thursday 25th May and the first two days of the intensive “S” timetable in the lead up to the busy T.T. period, it will operate throughout practice week.  The railway continues to be busy with six carriages on the Douglas set today for two visiting cruise liners, M.V. Silverwind and M.V. Seabourn Venture.  The 150th anniversary of the Peel Line will be commemorated on  1st July followed by an eight-day extended Transport Festival at the end of July.
