Closed Van G.9
Fourth and final of the first batch of four such closed vans, this example was withdrawn in 1962 and scrapped at Ballasalla Station in 1974; the illustration below and accompanying archive photograph show the van in a darker shade of grey.

G.9 was part of the a batch of three vans delivered from the Metropolitan Carriage & Wagon Co., Ltd. of Saltley in Birmingham and was identical to the recently-restored van G.1 which remains the sole representative of this early series of closed vans on the railway today..
