Built in-house by the Railway Company in 1895 re-using some components from the original E.1 which was destroyed in a collision with a Manx Northern Railway locomotive at St. John’s in 1893, this van was withdrawn and the body grounded and used as store at Sulby Bridge in 1923 but removed in 1937 when a dedicated timber shed was provided; the chassis became K.5 (ii) in 1924.  The rendering below shows a “what if” scenario had the four-wheel brake vans survived in use after the second world war in the new red and cream livery.
